I am thrilled to participate in 2 upcoming exhibitions on the west coast this summer. Both shows feature large and extra large format tintypes from my Surfland series.
California Gold opens at Berggruen Gallery in San Francisco on June 20-July 25, 2024.
California Gold invites artists with ties to California, to engage with the Golden State, expressing a diverse set of viewpoints and relationships. From the Gold Rush to Hollywood opulence to tech booms and busts, California Gold speaks to the state’s status as a cultural center for the United States and beyond, with its rich landscapes entrenched in influential history. The show pays special homage to the contemporary renaissance of San Francisco’s post-pandemic art scene, celebrating the city as a site of artistic optimism and renewal.
Whose Waters? opens at San Luis Obispo Museum of Art on July 13- October 20, 2024
A multi media exhibition exploring more than the traditional communities riding waves off the Golden State. The exhibition will explore the history of California surfing from a socio-political perspective through the work of Central Coast and California artists that represent the impacted communities.
